Home / Services / Debt position analysis

Analysis of debt and credit positions.

Understand before you act. An independent assessment of the position — yours or the counterparty's — to decide with data in hand, not anxiety.

Every recovery action has a cost and a risk. The preliminary analysis answers the questions that matter: is the claim proven and still enforceable? Is the debtor able to pay? Which route offers the best balance between costs, timelines and probability of success?

The same approach applies if you are the one with debts: a complete, honest picture of the position is the first step towards reorganising it and negotiating from an informed position.

Who it is for

Creditors — businesses or individuals — who want to assess whether and how to proceed; debtors who want to know exactly what they owe, to whom and with what room for negotiation; professionals and directors who must decide on receivables portfolios or write-downs; foreign companies assessing an Italian counterparty.

What it includes

  • Review of the documentation and of the evidence of the claim
  • Updated calculation of principal, interest (statutory or late-payment) and costs
  • Check of limitation periods and any interruptions
  • Solvency analysis: company and land registry extracts, protests, adverse records, filed financial statements
  • For debtors: overall picture of exposures, check of the position in the Bank of Italy Central Credit Register and credit bureaus
  • Assessment of banking and financial relationships (mortgages, loans, salary-backed loans)
  • Written report with scenarios, costs and operational recommendation

How we work

  1. Collection — I gather documents and information, with a clear list of what is needed.
  2. Verification — I check evidence, calculations, limitation periods and the financial situation.
  3. Report — you receive a report with the possible scenarios, costs and my recommendation.
  4. Decision — you choose the route; if you wish, I follow it personally.

Useful documents

For the first analysis, whatever you have available is enough. Typically useful:

  • Contracts, invoices, account statements, amortisation schedules
  • Correspondence with the counterparty and reminders received or sent
  • Any documents already served (payment orders, writs, attachments)
  • For debtors: list of current loans and latest communications from banks
Independence. The analysis is carried out exclusively in your interest: I have no arrangements with collection agencies, finance companies or law firms that could influence the final recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly do I receive the report?

For ordinary positions, within a few working days of receiving the complete documents. For complex portfolios we agree a work plan.

Can I use the report with my lawyer or accountant?

Certainly: it is designed to be shared and to start any subsequent phase with an already organised file.

I am a debtor: do I really need the analysis?

Yes. Knowing exactly what you owe, which amounts are disputable or time-barred and what room for negotiation exists radically changes the quality of the negotiation.
